We had a fantastic time at Vale Cottage. It was a beautifully renovated 15th Century cottage, with loads of character. One of the best equipped kitchens in a rental that we have been to.
It was extremely clean and Tim's recommendation of the Kings Arms for Sunday lunch was excellent.

This is a wonderful house located in a hands-down fabulous area.
Such a pleasure to stay in a home that has retained its charming history and a wonderful higgledy-piggledy layout, yet has been thoughtfully updated to provide all the comforts of 21st Century living.
It's peaceful and private, yet steps away from a good "local" and a 15-minute walk away from one of the best Sunday roasts on the planet!
Tim & Sarah have organized everything so you immediately feel at home . Beaches are minutes away by foot or car and country walks just outside the door. You can fall asleep to the sound of a street side brook or the soft lowing of the cows a couple of fields away.

We had the best mini break at your wonderful cottage, it was perfect and couldn't have expected a better place to have stayed. It was spacious and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. We particularly were grateful for the extra baby things like the high chair etc, just makes it one less thing to travel with. We noticed as well there were extra bits for the dogs incase we'd forgotten so that's always super helpful too. I cannot think of anything that we were missing or we'd recommend to improve, it was all fantastic!

We had a fabulous stay at Tim's beautiful old cottage. Croyde is a lovely little village, in close proximity to the beach and with a selection of pubs in walking distance. The cottage was perfect, with lots of thoughtful touches to make it well set up for receiving guests. Tim and Sarah were communicative throughout, providing clear instructions and responding to any queries quickly. I couldn't recommend a stay more highly.

Vale Cottage is an absolute gem, full of cosy, quirky charm but with all the mod cons. Prosecco, biscuits and milk on arrival was a real bonus too. Thank you Tim! We had plenty of space for our family group, 3 couples and a baby, spanning 3 generations and a dog. We all had the luxury of a double bed, en-suite and a parking space, a rare find! The location was perfect, the walk down to the village and beach was 20 mins. We had delicious food/drinks at The Blue Groove, The Thatch, The Manor and May's cafe, we would recommend them all. Putsborough/ Woolacombe beaches are a short drive away, we preferred Putsborough for the amenities plus the beach was more picturesque this end. The walks suggested by Tim were spot on, we especially enjoyed the circular walk to Baggy Point, with Cafe Croyde a welcome stop off point near the end. We had 6 wonderful nights and would thoroughly recommend staying here! Thank you Tim and Sarah for being such great hosts and for sharing your home with us.

Lovely cottage, full of charm and just right for 7 adults and a dog! Well located for beaches. A lovely little village. Tim was very helpful and checked in via email when the weather wasn't good, to ensure we were ok and had what what we needed. The wifi was good and the house was well appointed wirh all the facilities you would need. The little welcoming touches of prosecco and biscuits were so thoughtful. We would happily stay here again and it's a shame we couldn't stay longer.

Incredible location and the fortune to stay in a historic cottage but with all of the modern conveniences that a family need.
Attention to detail is what sets Vale Cottage apart from most holiday accommodation - things like the PIR lighting on the stairs and duck signs and photos.
The location is outrageous - so many differing types of beaches in the area.
We will be sure to return.

We spent a lovely few days at Vale Cottage.
Despite inclement weather, we had wonderful walks straight from the door - over Saunton Down to the beach and round Baggy Point & the Putsborough Circuit, both absolutely stunning. Slightly further afield, both Morte Point and Bull's Point are also spectacular.
Great meals enjoyed at the Thatch, The Manor and best of all at New Coast Kitchen - all just a walk from the cottage.
So nice to come back to each day, such a warm and cosy haven - you have created a lovely holiday home.

The cottage was superb and met all of our requirements. The facilities were as we would have wished for. It's location suited us perfectly as it was a short walk to the centre of Croyde (500m). The facilities and the beds were of excellent quality and really comfortable. One point, the parking is about 85m up the lane in front of the entrance to the cottage. We had everything we would have expected. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we will be back, we loved the cottage and the location.

We Stayed with 3 adults and 5 teenagers, we all enjoyed the cottage and its character, definately one to try if you havent stayed in a thatched cottage before. We used it as a base and went to the amazing local beaches that this area has to offer. Tim is a good host and is very responsive to messages.

This is a beautiful original cottage. Spacious but at the same time cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the beds are super comfortable . All the bathrooms are clean bright and modern . Parking for 3 cars is a very short walk away just cup the road. Tim was reliable, helpful , informative and available for any questions or issues , we just had a great time . All the meals and teas that we ate out locally were too class and the beaches are clean and safe. I recommend Vale cottage for a family seaside holiday - our family ranges 65yrs to 3 yrs and we all had a lovely time.

An excellent property which has been finished to a very high standard and has superb facilities. All four bedrooms are of a good size and have comfortable beds and decent quality furniture. There are four bathrooms in total and all have been recently finished to a very high standard. The kitchen is similarly high spec with a variety of gadgets for cooking/making coffee etc plus a very spacious fridge, a dishwasher and loads of brand new crockery. The parking and garden (which is a work in progress) are a short walk up the lane which is a small compromise but didn't cause us any great issues. The cottage is a short walk from the centre of Croyde with its busy pubs, cafes and of course the fantastic beach. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning with two other world class beaches nearby should you like to ring the changes. The kids had a wonderful time boogie boarding and there's lots of good sightseeing to be done too. Overall we had a wonderful short break and would definitely recommend Vale Cottage!

Spent 4 nights in this beautiful thatched cottage in Croyde. The cottage is very comfortable and well furnished with everything you would need. It is a short walk to the lovely village of Croyde which meant that the location was very quiet and peaceful. The plentiful parking in a very popular area was a real bonus. Tim's communication was very helpful.

Vale cottage was an outstanding property, it was very well kept and had a fully equipped kitchen with everything that was needed during our stay. It is situated about 10 mins walk from where the pubs and restaurants were but it was an easy walk. There was plenty of dedicated parking for the cottage which is always a huge benefit with any property. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to spend time in Croyde.

"We spent a wonderful six days at Tim's cottage in Croyde. Vale Cottage is a beautifully furnished, thatched roof, Devon longhouse, which was warm and cosy for our five night stay in February. The house is spacious, comfortable and well equipped for all cooking needs. The kids were ecstatic to wake up and watch TV in bed and we were happy to have wi-fi as we still needed to work! We would loved to have used the outside courtyard and garden, but it was far too cold and wet....next time, as we would love to go back here. The local beaches are stunning, possibly some of the most beautiful English beaches I've seen. We walked down to the village and across the fields to Croyde Bay, where the kids loved running over the dunes and were desperate to borrow toys from the beach toy library. Saunton Sands is spectacular with the largest sand dunes in the UK and despite the terrible weather, we managed to fly a kite while the waves crashed around us. We watched the surfers and longboarders at wild and beautiful Putsborough Beach. We saw "Verity" by Damien Hirst in Ilfracombe, went to the aquarium, wandered up the hill and saw the sleeping elephant and Lundy island. We visited Clovelly, took many photos and then climbed back through the steep (steep) village. The rain did not stop us exploring! Thank you Tim for letting us stay in your most beautiful and fabulous house.

We have had the most fabulous few days in Croyde. Vale Cottage was the most perfect place for a relaxed vacation with the girls. We made use of the pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the cottage. The cottage was picture perfect. There were some fantastic beaches closeby Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough being our favourites. We can't wait to return.

Knowing this would be the first Christmas when we couldn't all be altogether as a family, we had booked Vale Cottage as a special gathering at New Year, and so it proved to be! We loved Vale Cottage with its plentiful supply of mugs (tea and beer) and all other things culinary. We have passed through Croyde so many times admiring the thatched cottages and here we are staying in one. We learned to love the feel of the place with old beams, floorboards, thick walls and fireplaces. Walking to the beach, to the top of Saunton Down and to Putsborough from the cottage were constant delights and when we ventured into the surf it was great to find that even in January the wetsuits would drip dry in the car port. We have had a fantastic holiday, a really replenishing break and great start to what we all hope will be a wonderful New Year.
