Vale Cottage Stories
Vale Cottage has over five centuries of history. We cannot possibly know the stories of all the people who lived here over those 550 years, but we do know some more recent stories from within these old walls.
Our first ever guest was the daughter of the previous owners, who finally enjoyed staying here for her thrice Covid delayed honeymoon. Since then, there have been three more honeymoons and two brides-to-be have left for their weddings from Vale Cottage.
We are delighted that several family milestones have been celebrated here – so far one 30th, two 40ths, a 50th, three 60ths and a 90th (with a promise to return for the 100th). And let’s not forget the 59th.
There have been many family get-togethers and reunions, one spanning four generations and another reuniting a group of university friends who last stayed at Vale Cottage in 1984. There have been Christmas Day feasts, Boxing Day swims and plenty of New Year's Day corks popped!
We have had guests from all five continents, including surfers, walkers, golfers, cyclists and even a knitting circle - Will your story be the next?
